About Us

Message from Our Founder
(Dharmvir Dhaliwal)

Established in 2016 with just 32 founding members—including children, women, and elderly women—Virsa Foundation was born from a shared vision: to reconnect our community with the rich roots of our culture, heritage, and traditions.

Today, over 2,000 people actively participate in our events and celebrations each year.

Our mission is to empower women, foster intergenerational connections and create a space where tradition lives on through music, dance, storytelling and community gatherings. From Mela Teeyan Da to International Women’s Day celebrations, every event we host strengthens the bond between past and present.

At Virsa Foundation, we proudly carry forward the legacy of our ancestors and celebrate the power of unity, identity and cultural pride.

I have dedicated most of my adult life, volunteering with different organizations to support women, seniors and children. This has provided me so much insight into what matters most in our communities, along with much needed love and inspiration to be part of Virsa Foundation.

I am a very passionate and caring person. My work with Soroptimist international women’s association Surrey, PICS and even SEYVA (Socializing, educating youth through volunteer work), has certainly made my love for humanity, even stronger. I am honoured to be part of Virsa Foundation where I am able to empower women of all ages and ethnicity. Where I continue to respect our elders and engage with each one at cultural and heritage level. Virsa Foundation provides me a platform to make a meaningful impact in my community. I am proud of my strong connections.

“Our roots keep us grounded. Our culture gives us wings.”
